Our main focus in research and teaching is on simulation-baded optimization and control and robotics. For example, we investigate:

• the efficient numertical optimal control of nonlinear dynamic processes (as motor vehicles, mulit-joint robots and human motions) with continuous orhybrid discrete-continuous control and state variables,
• the robust, simulation-based optimization with real-valued or mixed-integer nonlinear parameters (e.g., for CAE optimization of fluid flow or electromagnetic field simulations),
• humaniod and four-legged robots,
• biologically inspired robots (BioRob, BioBiped),
• cooperating teams of autonomous, mobile robots in dynamic or unstructured environments (e.g.,Darmstadt Dribblers, Dribbling Dackels
• & Rescue Robot Team Hector.
