BioRob: A Lightweight and Safe Robot Manipulator for Mobile Applications

Power and Lightweight Design

The BioRob arm is a new type of robot arms based on a series elastic actuation concept which is inspired by the antagonistic muscle-tendon apparatus. It distinguishes itself in an excellent relation of payload to dead weight, high safety in case of collisions, an energy-saving control with very low power requirements, as well as velocity, accuracy and range oriented towards the human arm. Thus, the BioRob arm enables new types of assistance and service robots for small and medium enterprises.
